First seen Nov 10, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether mindfulness-based relapse prevention, combined with wearable heart rate sensors, can help people with alcohol use disorder drink less and feel better. About 120 adults who currently have moderate to severe alcohol problems will attend weekly mindfulness groups for 8 weeks and answer questions about their mood and drinking three times a day. The goal is to see if changes in heart rate patterns during mindfulness can predict better self-control and less drinking over the next 6 months.
