First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looked at how mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) affects self-regulation, which helps us plan, focus, and manage emotions. Researchers used brain scans (fMRI) to see brain activity in 55 veterans with mTBI and tested if the drug tolcapone could improve memory and self-control. The goal was to better understand the brain changes, not to provide a treatment.
