Chill out your tinnitus: cooling headband trial launches
NCT ID NCT07017998
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a mild cooling device worn on the head for 30 minutes can reduce the severity of chronic tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Eighty adults with constant tinnitus will either receive the cooling therapy or a sham device. Researchers will measure changes in tinnitus loudness, awareness, and disturbance right after the session.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, non-invasive way to temporarily ease tinnitus symptoms without drugs or surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only a single 30-minute session. The effect may be small or no better than a placebo, and any relief may be short-lived.
