Calm before the storm: drug tested to ease surgery fears

NCT ID NCT07184125

Summary

This study tested whether a single dose of the medication midazolam could reduce anxiety in patients right before breast cancer surgery. Researchers compared it to a placebo (saltwater injection) in 124 female patients. The main goal was to see if the medication led to less anxiety on surgery day and greater patient satisfaction the day after.
