First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether different types of messages sent through a patient portal can encourage smokers to get free coaching from the Illinois Tobacco Quitline. About 3,000 adult smokers from several health centers will be randomly assigned to receive one of three messages. The goal is to see which message works best to get people to actually speak with a quit coach and eventually quit smoking.
