First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adjusting the settings on a mechanical cough-assist device (MI-E) can remove more mucus from the lungs of critically ill patients on breathing machines. About 26 adults who have been on a ventilator for more than 48 hours will take part. Researchers will compare the amount of mucus cleared using standard settings versus optimized settings to find the best approach.
