ICU breathing device guidelines sought by international experts

NCT ID NCT07420946

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study brings together 30 healthcare experts from around the world to agree on the best ways to use a machine called Mechanical Insufflation-Exsufflation (MI-E) in intensive care units. MI-E helps clear mucus from the lungs, but there are no standard rules for its use in critically ill patients. Through multiple rounds of questionnaires, the experts will vote on statements to create practical guidelines for safer and more consistent care.
