New Blood-Cleansing device shows promise for liver crisis patients
NCT ID NCT06340269
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a new medical device called MEX-CD1 that filters the blood in people with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), a serious condition where the liver suddenly stops working. Eleven adults received three blood-filtering sessions over one week. The main goals were to check if the device is safe and if it can remove excess iron from the blood. The study was small and focused on safety, not on curing the liver disease.
