First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a heart medication (metoprolol) along with a painkiller (sufentanil) can prevent sudden increases in heart rate and blood pressure when a breathing tube is placed during general anesthesia. About 900 adults having planned non-cardiac surgery will receive different dose combinations. The goal is to find the best balance to keep the heart stable and reduce risks like high or low blood pressure.
