First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tested a new method to clean patients' blood during heart-lung bypass surgery. The method uses a blue dye called methylene blue to wash the blood and remove extra fluid and inflammatory substances. 124 adults having heart surgery took part. The goal was to see if this approach reduces fluid overload and inflammation after surgery, which could lead to fewer complications and shorter hospital stays.
