Common diabetes pill tested as potential nerve repair treatment for young MS patients

NCT ID NCT04121468

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether metformin, a common diabetes medication, can help repair nerve damage in children and young adults with multiple sclerosis (MS). Researchers want to see if the drug can stimulate the brain's own repair cells to rebuild the protective coating around nerves. The trial will enroll 20 participants to primarily check if the treatment is safe and feasible for this younger population.
