Summary
This study tests whether metformin, a common diabetes medicine, can improve muscle function in adults with myotonic dystrophy type 1 (Steinert's disease). About 142 non-diabetic participants will receive either metformin or a placebo for 6 months. The main goal is to see if metformin helps with movement and daily activities.
