Common diabetes drug tested as Muscle-Booster for seniors

NCT ID NCT06185179

Summary

This study is testing if the drug metformin can help older adults rebuild muscle and strength after a period of not using a leg. Researchers want to see if taking metformin for two weeks during recovery improves muscle regrowth better than a placebo. The goal is to find a treatment to help seniors recover faster from muscle weakness, which can reduce the risk of falls.
