First seen Jan 26, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study is testing whether metformin, a medicine used for diabetes, is safe and tolerable for premature infants who have or are at risk for bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), a chronic lung condition. The trial has two phases: one for older premature infants already diagnosed with BPD, and one for younger, high-risk infants. The main goal is to see how well these babies tolerate the drug and to check for side effects like low blood sugar or feeding problems.
