Common diabetes drug tested as potential brain shield for devastating genetic disease

NCT ID NCT04826692

Summary

This study tested whether metformin, a common diabetes medication, could help slow down the worsening of thinking and memory in people with Huntington's disease. For one year, 60 adult patients took either metformin or a placebo pill. Researchers measured changes in cognitive tests, movement, behavior, and daily function to see if the drug made a difference.
