Common diabetes drug tested as secret weapon for hip fracture recovery
NCT ID NCT07179042
Summary
This study is testing if a common, safe diabetes medication called metformin can help older adults rebuild muscle and regain strength after hip fracture surgery. Researchers will give 60 patients either metformin or a placebo pill daily for four months after their operation to see if the drug improves muscle size and function. The goal is to find a new way to help people recover better from a devastating injury that often leads to permanent disability.
