Summary
This pilot study tested whether metformin, a standard diabetes drug, can reduce blood vessel damage and inflammation in the brain for people living with HIV who also have metabolic syndrome. Thirty participants received metformin for 12 weeks, and researchers measured changes in brain blood flow and blood vessel function. The goal was to see if this approach could lower the risk of brain disease in this high-risk group.
