New breathing device aims to prevent lung collapse after cancer surgery

Summary

This study tests if the MetaNeb system, a breathing device, can prevent or treat lung collapse (atelectasis) in 178 adults after esophageal cancer surgery. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care or MetaNeb therapy. The main goal is to see if MetaNeb improves lung ultrasound scores on the first two days after surgery.
