Could removing metals from blood help fight leukemia?

NCT ID NCT06811233

Summary

This study is testing whether adding metal detoxification to standard chemotherapy helps control acute myeloid leukemia (AML) better than chemotherapy alone. Researchers will give 140 adults with intermediate or high-risk AML either standard treatment plus metal-removing drugs (Ca-EDTA and DMSA) or just standard treatment. They want to see if lowering metal levels in the blood and bone marrow helps the chemotherapy work better and improves survival.
