Summary
This study aims to find out if certain chemicals in the body can predict how well rectal cancer responds to treatment and whether side effects like radiation proctitis occur. Researchers will collect blood, urine, tissue, and stool samples from 250 people with locally advanced rectal cancer before, during, and after chemotherapy and radiation. The goal is to identify a set of chemical markers that could help doctors personalize treatment in the future.
