Mesh shield could stop common surgery complication

NCT ID NCT02908061

Summary

This study tests whether placing a supportive mesh during bladder removal surgery helps prevent hernias from developing around the stoma (opening) afterward. Researchers are comparing outcomes for 178 bladder cancer patients who receive the mesh with their surgery versus those who don't. The goal is to see if this preventive approach reduces hernia risk without causing additional problems.
