This study aimed to see if the heart-lung machine used during heart surgery changes blood flow in the gut. Researchers checked blood flow under the tongue as a way to measure gut health. The study was stopped early and included only 21 adults having aortic valve replacement. It was an observational study, not a treatment trial.
