New hope for thigh pain sufferers: radiofrequency ablation outperforms steroid injections?

NCT ID NCT06683924

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested two treatments for meralgia paresthetica, a condition causing pain, numbness, and tingling in the outer thigh. Researchers compared pulsed radiofrequency ablation (using heat to calm the nerve) with steroid injections in 22 adults who did not get relief from simple measures like avoiding tight belts or losing weight. The goal was to see which treatment better reduces pain and nerve symptoms.
