Fake store study tests if banning menthol cigs helps smokers quit
NCT ID NCT07458607
Summary
This study aims to understand how a ban on menthol cigarettes, when paired with a quit-smoking ad campaign, affects what people buy and their attempts to quit. About 1,185 U.S. adults who currently smoke menthol cigarettes will shop in a simulated store and receive text message ads. Researchers will track their purchases and survey responses to see if the combination reduces tobacco buying and increases quit attempts.
