Can imagining success help people face social fears?
NCT ID NCT07009444
Summary
This online study tested whether a simple mental exercise could help people with social anxiety feel more motivated to face situations they fear. After learning about anxiety, some participants practiced vividly imagining themselves successfully handling a scary social situation. Researchers then measured if this imagery practice increased their motivation and willingness to actually engage with that situation a week later, compared to people who only received the educational information.
