Summary
This study aimed to understand if menopause affects heart muscle stiffness and exercise capacity in lifelong female endurance athletes. Researchers compared postmenopausal female athletes to premenopausal female athletes and similarly aged male athletes. They used special heart scans and exercise tests to measure heart stiffness and fitness levels.
