Bone marrow injection tested to save torn knee cartilage

NCT ID NCT03968029

Summary

This study tested a new method to help heal difficult meniscus (knee cartilage) tears. Researchers compared standard surgical repair to a technique where they injected the patient's own bone marrow under a protective collagen wrap during surgery. The goal was to see if this 'wrapping' method improved healing in the poor-blood-supply area of the meniscus and reduced the long-term risk of knee arthritis.
