NCT ID NCT06000475
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 43 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding memory-support strategies to a standard PTSD therapy, called cognitive processing therapy (CPT), helps older veterans learn and remember the therapy content better. The goal is to improve treatment response, since many older adults struggle with memory and don't get full benefit from therapy. The study will enroll 30 veterans over age 59 with PTSD and track their symptoms using a questionnaire.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Cognitive Processing Therapy with added memory support strategies
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple way to boost the effectiveness of PTSD therapy for older adults by helping them remember and use what they learn.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early feasibility study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The added memory support may not significantly improve outcomes.
