Scans reveal how childhood cancer treatment affects young minds

NCT ID NCT04324450

Summary

This study aimed to understand how radiation therapy for childhood brain tumors affects memory and thinking skills later in life. Researchers used MRI brain scans and memory tests on 60 young survivors who had completed treatment at least five years earlier. The goal was to see how different radiation doses impact specific brain areas involved in memory, to help future doctors better protect these regions during treatment.
