Gentle procedure tested to kickstart labor, avoid medical induction
NCT ID NCT07043088
Summary
This study is testing whether a simple, gentle procedure called membrane sweeping can help pregnant women go into labor naturally before 41 weeks, reducing the need for medical induction. Over 1500 low-risk pregnant women in Denmark will be randomly assigned to either receive up to three of these sweepings or receive standard care with no sweeping. Researchers will track whether the sweepings successfully help labor start on its own and will ask participants about their experience.
