Summary

This study aims to understand how the environment, the bacteria that cause melioidosis, and the human body interact to cause disease. Researchers will follow about 1,000 infected patients and 1,000 healthy matched controls in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia for one year. They will also monitor a high-risk village to catch hidden infections and learn how to prevent them.
