Scientists track deadly tropical disease from soil to sickness
NCT ID NCT07345910
Summary
This study aims to understand why some people get a serious bacterial infection called melioidosis and how they recover. Researchers will observe 1,000 patients in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia for a year, comparing them to healthy neighbors and closely monitoring a high-risk village. The goal is to learn how environmental exposure, personal health, and the bacteria itself combine to cause disease.
