Natural hormone vs. common drug: which calms kids better before surgery?
NCT ID NCT07336095
Summary
This study aims to see if melatonin, a natural sleep hormone, works as well as the standard drug midazolam at reducing anxiety in children before tonsil removal surgery. It will involve 195 healthy children and will also measure confusion after waking up from anesthesia. The goal is to find a pre-surgery medication with fewer side effects.
