Fighting cancer with a Patient's own supercharged immune cells

NCT ID NCT01659151

Summary

This study tested a multi-step treatment for advanced melanoma that had spread. Doctors took a patient's own tumor-fighting immune cells, grew billions of them in a lab, and then infused them back. This was combined with a targeted drug and chemotherapy to try to boost the immune system's attack on the cancer. The goal was to see if this intensive combination could shrink tumors and control the disease.
