Skin cream plus IV drug: a new attack on deadly melanoma?
NCT ID NCT03276832
Summary
This small, early study tested if combining two immune-boosting treatments could help control advanced melanoma. Seven patients with stage IIIB-IV skin cancer that couldn't be surgically removed received pembrolizumab (an IV drug) and applied imiquimod (a cream) to skin lesions. The main goals were to check safety and see if the combination showed any early signs of shrinking tumors.
