Scientists fight melanoma with Patient's own supercharged immune cells

NCT ID NCT01005745

Summary

This study tested a personalized treatment for advanced melanoma that had spread. Doctors took a patient's own cancer-fighting immune cells from a tumor, grew large numbers of them in a lab, and then put them back into the patient's bloodstream. The goal was to see if this approach was feasible and could shrink or slow the growth of the cancer.
