Less surgery may be just as good for advanced melanoma after immunotherapy
NCT ID NCT07049276
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether removing only the largest affected lymph node (instead of all nearby lymph nodes) after 6 weeks of standard immunotherapy works just as well for stage III melanoma. About 1500 adults with stage IIIB-D melanoma will be randomly assigned to one of the two surgeries. The goal is to see if the less extensive surgery can prevent cancer from coming back while causing fewer side effects like swelling and wound problems.
