Simpler melanoma surgery may be just as good for seniors

NCT ID NCT07068074

Summary

This study is testing whether a simpler surgical approach works as well as the standard approach for early-stage melanoma in patients aged 75 and older. Researchers want to see if removing just the skin cancer (wide local excision) is as effective at preventing recurrence as also removing nearby lymph nodes (sentinel lymph node biopsy). The study will also measure how each approach affects patients' quality of life and overall well-being.
