Melanoma study asks: is less surgery better for seniors?

NCT ID NCT07068074

First seen Nov 14, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks at whether older adults (75+) with early-stage melanoma can safely skip a sentinel lymph node biopsy after their main surgery. The goal is to see if removing just the tumor and some surrounding skin is as effective as the standard approach that also checks nearby lymph nodes. Researchers will track quality of life and overall well-being to find the best treatment option for this age group.
