Scientists supercharge Patients' own cells to fight deadly skin cancer

NCT ID NCT01701674

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether combining two different immune-boosting treatments could help control advanced melanoma. Researchers collected cancer-fighting immune cells from patients' tumors, grew them in a lab, and then gave them back along with a drug called ipilimumab. The main goals were to see if this combination was safe and practical to deliver, and to look for early signs that it might help shrink tumors.
