First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether a special toolkit can help primary care practices get more older adults on Medicare to use their free Annual Wellness Visit. The toolkit includes electronic health record tools and practice redesign strategies. Over 22,000 patients across 24 practices will be followed for 24 months to see if the toolkit increases use of preventive services like cancer screenings and vaccines.

Medicare AWV Practice Redesign Toolkit (behavioral intervention)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show how to boost preventive care for millions of older adults on Medicare.

What could go wrong

This is a large implementation study, not a test of a new drug or treatment. Success depends on real-world adoption, which may vary across practices.
