Measles virus hijacks stem cells to attack returning ovarian cancer

NCT ID NCT02068794

First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This early-stage trial tests a new way to treat ovarian cancer that has come back after standard chemotherapy. Doctors take stem cells from the patient's own fat tissue, infect them with a specially modified measles virus, and inject them into the belly. The stem cells act like delivery trucks, carrying the virus directly to cancer cells to kill them. The study involves 34 adults and aims to find the safest dose and see if it helps control the disease.
