Could a simple vaccine policy change slash child deaths by half?

NCT ID NCT01306006

First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looked at whether changing the measles vaccine policy in Guinea-Bissau could save more children's lives. Currently, only children under 12 months get the vaccine, but many older kids miss it. The trial gave the vaccine to children up to 35 months old to see if it reduces deaths beyond just preventing measles. About 3,500 children took part, and the main goal was to compare death rates between the two groups.
