Measles mystery: how one virus both harms and helps immunity

NCT ID NCT07267585

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study aims to solve the measles paradox: how the virus can temporarily weaken the immune system, increasing risk of other infections, while also providing lifelong protection against measles itself. Researchers will follow 300 adults, including those who get measles or the MMR vaccine, to measure changes in immune memory cells and antibodies over time. The goal is to understand how long immune suppression lasts and how the body builds lasting protection.
