First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether McKenzie back extension exercises can improve postural stability (balance), reduce pain, and enhance quality of life in 40 adults aged 18-35 with mechanical back pain from prolonged sitting. Participants will do McKenzie exercises plus standard physiotherapy. The goal is to see if breaking up sitting time with these exercises helps.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

McKenzie exercises (back extension exercises) plus traditional physiotherapy (TENS, heat, ultrasound, strengthening)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple exercise program to improve balance and reduce pain for people with back pain from sitting too long.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early study with only 40 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It is not a cure and only focuses on symptom relief.
