First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested a drug called MCI-196 in 245 adults on dialysis with high phosphorus levels. After a 12-week dose adjustment period, some patients switched to a placebo to see if MCI-196 kept phosphorus levels lower. The goal was to manage a common complication of kidney failure, not to cure the disease.
