First seen Feb 27, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at whether playing a recording of a mother's voice while a child wakes up from anesthesia can reduce confusion and agitation after surgery. Eighty children having their tonsils removed took part. Half heard their mother's reassuring voice during recovery, and the other half did not. Researchers then compared how often delirium occurred in each group.
