New modular implants aim to rebuild bones lost to cancer or injury

NCT ID NCT07369778

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will test a new line of massive prosthetic implants (the Pantheon range) in 375 people who have lost large amounts of bone due to cancer, complex fractures, or failed previous surgeries. The implants are designed to restore function quickly and stay stable long-term. Researchers will track how long the implants last without needing revision and how patients' quality of life changes over five years.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Pantheon range massive prosthetic implants (including PFR, DFR, PTR, TFR, hybrid connectors, custom-made implants)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could confirm that these modular implants provide long-lasting, stable reconstruction for people with severe bone loss, improving mobility and quality of life.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage observational study with no control group, so results may not prove superiority over existing options. Implants can fail over time, requiring revision surgery.
