Massage may soothe anxiety by rewiring the brain, new study hopes to prove

Summary

This study looks at whether Swedish massage or light touch can reduce anxiety symptoms in people with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). About 46 adults will receive either massage or light touch twice a week for 6 weeks. Researchers will use brain scans (fMRI) and questionnaires to see if these touch therapies change brain networks linked to anxiety.
