No-Mask radiation: new device could spare cancer patients the claustrophobia
NCT ID NCT03076255
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This pilot study tested a maskless immobilization device for 12 adults with head/neck cancer or brain tumors undergoing radiation therapy. The device aims to keep the head still as accurately as the standard tight plastic mask, but without the discomfort. Researchers measured how much the head moved during treatment to see if the new device is a reliable alternative.
