New MRI-Guided radiation aims to zap sarcomas with pinpoint accuracy
NCT ID NCT06436612
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests a precise radiation technique called MRI-guided stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for people with sarcomas in the abdomen or pelvis. The radiation is given over 5 days, followed by surgery within 12 weeks. The goal is to safely deliver high-dose radiation to the tumor while sparing healthy organs. Researchers will track side effects and tumor control for up to 5 years.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
MRI-guided stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could offer a more precise, safer way to treat sarcomas in the abdomen and pelvis, potentially reducing side effects and improving tumor control.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment still requires surgery afterward, and there is a risk of radiation-related side effects.
